Claudia can’t not die because it’s the whole point of the story. She has to die because she was already dead. Because this is the way it goes. She was a little girl who never got to grow old and it brought her mother to edge of annihilation and instead of succumbing she wrote a story that would have everyone begging for her to live the same way she did in that hospital room all those years ago. It’s always been a story about the unthinkable grief of losing a child and how it destroys everything. And yet, the strength of a well-told tragedy is how you spend even the last moments leading up to it bargaining with the text. Maybe it’ll be different this time. Maybe she’ll escape.

Hello! I don't know if this has been asked before or if you could direct me to the answer if it has been, but do you think they will be killing Claudia off in the show?

With the changes they have made, I am wondering your opinion if that is something they'd keep in, or if they'll save it for modern day? Or do you think they'll change her storyline completely?

Claudia will die. In Paris. Gruesomly.

She has to die, for a lot of reasons (and none of them have to do with the racial recasting, though of course this show will likely tap into that as well!). Here is a good post on some of the historical context of it and what it means for the show.

She has already been referred to in past tense on the show, too. And if she were alive Louis would not be sharing her diaries, he would be searching for her.

Her death is a major point in the books, a cataclysmic event, and it carries repercussions. Repercussions which would change the whole of the series if changed, and given what we know already, that is not going to happen.

So no. They won’t change that, imho.

i know the date has passed but one of my super pedantic pet peeves is that claudia's birthday is not september 21st, that's just the day she became a vampire and i like to make that distinction bc the bit where she talks about it in qotd is so fucked up to me and very important for her character

like she doesn't have a history. or at least any biographical details assigned to her are only given to her based on how relevant her new guardians deem it to how they conceptualize her life. the day she was born into the world doesn't matter to them, that would hint at the reality that she existed for any amount of time before they knew her. the only thing that matters to them is when she became part of their little family
